12th March – Fairtrade Landmarks Bunting Event Agenda

February 16, 2011

I hope you’re making some bunting for this Fairtrade Fortnight – not only to show that FAIRTRADE is not just for tea and coffee, but for clothing and cotton too; and not just to contribute to breaking the WORLD RECORD for the longest continuous bunting ever (yep, all the bunting made is going to get sent to the Fairtrade Foundation to sew together for a record breaking attempt), but also, to bring to our Oxford Landmarks Event on the 12th March.

Even if you’ve not yet had chance to make bunting, you can still join us to make some on the day! Here’s the plan:

It’s all taking place at St Michael’s Church Parish Rooms just off Cornmarket (head for the Fairtrade@StMichaels shop).

10.30 am – Bunting Making Workshop  – come along to decorate bunting, or help us put together bunting that’s been brought along. Drop in whenever you can…

11.30 am – All about FAIRTRADE and FAIRTRADE Cotton from a leading speaker from Oxfam GB in a short fun and informative talk.

11.45 am – Fair singing – raising our voices together in songs from around the world, led by Rachel Smith (@oxfordsing)

12.00 noon – Landmarks time! Taking our bunting out to Oxford Landmarks to show off the Fairtrade message. Taking photos of our bunting in front of key landmarks.

13.00 pm – Refreshments at the parish rooms

Join us for as much of the time as you can, although if you can only drop in for a bit we would still love to see you. However, please let us know you’re planning to join us either by dropping an e-mail to fairtrade@oxford.gov.uk with your name and how many people will be coming with you, or dropping in a comment below.
