This Sunday: Poverty Reduction Through Enterprise

June 4, 2013

Poverty Reduction Through Enterprise

Sunday June 9th 2013

Professor Jane Conlon MBE Tabeisa CEO

Based in North Oxford, Tabeisa is a registered charity that seeks to develop capacity within poor communities to engage in commercial activity. The Tabeisa model of business support and trade development has been developed specifically to address the needs of marginalized groups who may have good business ideas or craft skills but have little or no experience of the techniques of entrepreneurship or the technical and financial aspects of establishing a growing micro-enterprise or small business. To date the charity has supported the development of over two thousand small enterprises and the work has been awarded a Queen’s Anniversary prize for “tackling the root causes of poverty.”

Tabeisa has established a trading arm, Exclusive Roots that buys directly from the producers that the charity has helped to support. Using real case studies Jane will describe the positive benefits that are brought about by directly trading with poor producers.

Free Talk – Everyone is welcome to attend, coffee will be served at 11:45am, with the talk starting at 12pm.

St Barnabas, St Barnabas Street, Oxford, OX2 6BG

Exclusive Roots looks forward to seeing you there!
